Californian start-up Loft Orbital, specialized in “satellite sharing”, opens its European subsidiary in Toulouse. Loft Orbital focuses its ambitions on the New Space market, by setting up its R&D centre and subsidiary at the heart of an ecosystem, symbolizing the space industry and innovation. 30 highly skilled jobs set to be created in 3 years.
After raising $13 million this summer, Loft Orbital opened a subsidiary in Toulouse in November 2019, dedicated to the European, Middle Eastern and African markets. This was made possible in just a few months thanks to the support of the national agency Business France, AD’OCC, Occitanies regional economic development agency and Invest in Toulouse, part of Toulouse Métropole development agency.
“We were looking at relocating to Luxembourg, England and the Netherlands. We finally opted for France, which has much software technology talent. Coming to Toulouse also seemed natural to us, as we are already in close contact with many stakeholders from the Toulouse space scene. Thanks to the teams from Toulouse Métropole Development Agency and ADOCC, we were able to discover a wealth of organisations and structures dedicated to supporting and developing start-ups,” explains Antoine de Chassy, Co-founder and Managing Director of Loft Orbital. The density and dynamism of the network convinced us to go fast in opening the subsidiary. This is where we need to be to best develop activity: at the heart of an ecosystem which combines cutting-edge technology, quality research and economic dynamism… and which, just like us, looks to the stars”.
